A simple note before we begin
Please do not be creepy.
That may sound simple, but it matters.
This is a room for thoughtful correspondence, not pressure, pursuit, performance, fantasy, or unwanted intensity.
Do not treat another member like a character, a conquest, a passport, a fantasy, a novelty, or a solution to loneliness.
Do not rush someone.
Do not sexualize someone.
Do not ask for money.
Do not push for private contact.
Do not make someone explain why they are uncomfortable.
A slow reply is not an invitation to push harder.
A kind answer is not a romantic promise.
A shared interest in Scotland, America, tartan, travel, heritage, football, letters, or old stories is not permission to cross someone’s boundaries.
Be warm.
Be honest.
Be respectful.
Be normal.
The room works only if the people inside it remember that there are real human beings on the other side of the letter.
